Just looking at this country, with the dimensions of a continent, it is easy to see that even in the twenty-first century we are faced with many completely different realities. We can see that lack of preparation and disinformation has left many people behind. Thousands of distant communities, or even ones that are geographically close within the same city, are separated by immense social and economic barriers.

The objectives of the 2005 Novos Brasis program are to contribute to reducing the distances between the different Brazils through the democratization of knowledge and carrying out actions capable of inserting an increasingly greater number of Brazilian in the map of citizenship.

The principal focus of the Novos Brasis Program reflects the philosophy of Oi Futuro: to sow new ideas, concentrating investment in innovative projects that can be converted into lasting social gains. Essentially, Oi Futuro’s support considers proposals using communication and information technology that favor the direct participation of beneficiaries, influencing the Human Development Indices in the communities.

Relying on partnerships and on the transformation that the city has been enjoying through the expansion of third sector initiatives, the Novos Brasis Program is not limited to the financing of projects. Oi Futuro wants to go beyond this and therefore proposes to closely accompany the implementation of each partner initiative, monitoring their evolution, as well as providing methodologies and experiences obtained from other projects that it has supported through its programs.

From the very start Oi Futuro promises its partners — both current and future — to make a commitment to an ideal shared by all Brazilians: to work together to reduce the distances between the various Brazils, approximating all of them to welfare, education, culture, technology and citizenship.
