The Oi Tonomundo program associates education to high technology and uses computer laboratories, installed in the most remote regions of the country, as community centers of production and universalization of knowledge centers. Created in the year 2000 through 16 pilot schools, which serve as a experimental centers for the methodologies applied, the program now boasts about 600 schools, 7,000 teachers and 600,000 students from public elementary schools. The program has received over 10 awards in its career and became public policy for digital inclusion in the states of Pernambuco, Espirito Santo and Sergipe and also in public schools of Fortaleza (CE), Natal (RN), Tiradentes (MG), Belém (PA) and Itaituba (PA). In 2008, the Oi ToNoMundo arrived in Mozambique, consolidating the program's mission to use information technology in order to expand communication and dialogue between schools and its communities.
